Oman and Egypt meet to boost trade & industrial cooperation

Oman (Washington Insider) - Oman’s Minister Qais bin Mohammed Al Youse met Egypt’s Deputy PM Kamel Al Wazir on Monday, Dec 22, 2025, to enhance trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, aiming for growth, jobs, and stronger economic ties.

As QNA reported, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Qais bin Mohammed Al Youse, met on Monday, Dec 22, 2025,  with Kamel Al Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport. 

What steps are Oman and Egypt taking to strengthen trade and industry?

The meeting took place during Al Wazir’s official visit to Oman. The 2 ministers discussed ways to strengthen trade and industrial cooperation between Oman and Egypt. They focused on expanding investment opportunities, promoting joint industrial projects, and enhancing collaboration in key sectors. 

The ministers said stronger cooperation would help boost economic growth, create jobs, and enhance regional competitiveness. They also noted that long-term partnerships in industrial and commercial sectors could strengthen industrial capacity, support innovation, and open new avenues for business opportunities.

In June 2022, Oman's President accepted an invitation to visit Egypt, where the 2 nations reached agreement on a number of areas of mutual benefit in the areas of trade, investment, industry, and bilateral cooperation. 

In particular, the 2 countries agreed to invest in one another's economies, create trade relationships, establish Industrial Zones in both nations, and work together to promote economic and social development through mutual cooperation.

Subsequently, in February 2025, Oman and Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Cairo aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in agriculture, logistics, tourism, technology, and other areas; enhancing bilateral trade and technical cooperation.

Furthermore, on 12th May, 2025, Omani and Egyptian firms entered into an agreement for investment in Industry in order to further enhance economic collaboration between the two countries. Later, during the 16th Session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee in June, 2025, both countries signed seven agreements covering investment, labour, media, food safety, and other areas.
