Summary

  • The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution for Charlie Kirk Day.
  • October 14, 2025, designated National Day of Remembrance.
  • Day honors Kirk’s legacy in conservative activism and civic engagement.

The day is set aside in the new resolution as a chance for

"Americans to reflect on Kirk’s contributions to public debate and civic engagement."

Along with acknowledging Kirk's contributions to civic education and public service, the resolution calls on American citizens, civic organizations, and educational institutions to mark this day with suitable events, programs, prayers, and ceremonies that uphold the values of liberty, democracy, and faith that Charlie Kirk espoused.

The resolution encourages educational institutions, civic organizations, and citizens to observe October 14 with programs, activities, prayers, and ceremonies promoting the principles Kirk championed: faith, liberty, and democracy.

Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative voice, was assassinated during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

The resolution's designation was first announced on September 16 by Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., who described Kirk as a "magnetic leader, a loving father and husband, and a friend and inspiration to so many."

"Charlie loved our nation and its founding principles and believed deeply in his faith, in his family, and in the beauty of ideas and discussion,"

he added.

How do other political figures commemorate Charlie Kirk's contributions?

Many conservative leaders, including Republican donors and politicians, stress finishing Kirk’s work by supporting Turning Point USA and encouraging youth engagement in conservative causes, reflecting his mission to mobilize a new generation of leaders.

Senators and House members have praised Kirk's impact on political discourse and campaigning, celebrating his role in helping Republicans win key battleground states in the 2024 elections.

Vigils and memorials have been held across various states to honor Kirk’s life and activism.

Some conservative figures, including Vice President JD Vance, publicly denounce political violence and urge unity while honoring Kirk’s life.
