In addition to accusing the White House of making a "huge miscalculation" by dismissing the story as a "Democrat hoax," the Georgia lawmaker has refused to back down on the issue.
As the two publicly fought blows on social media, Trump attacked Greene late Friday and continued to target his erstwhile supporter on Truth Social early on Saturday morning.
“Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!), betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left, performed poorly on the pathetic View, and became the RINO that we all know she always was,”
he said in an earlier post Saturday.
“Just another Fake politician, no different than Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie), who got caught being a full fledged Republican In Name Only (RINO)! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
In a rapid counterattack, Greene stated that the president's remarks "make you wonder what is in those files."
The representative further stated that Trump's "aggression" against her made her fear for her safety.
“I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world,”
Greene said in a post on X.
“The man I supported and helped get elected. Aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type rhetoric being directed at me right now. This time by the President of the United States.”
Greene was once one of Trump's most devoted followers, but in recent months, he has rebelled against Trump over his administration's emphasis on diplomacy and international travel while paying insufficient attention to ongoing affordability problems. He and she have also disagreed over his position on H-1B visas, which she strongly disagreed with.
The congresswoman has also criticized other Republicans for permitting subsidies under the Affordable Care Act to expire, which is a significant source of contention in the current government shutdown talks.
But not everyone is persuaded.
Greene is "the biggest con artist ever," according to former GOP Representative Adam Kinzinger, who also claimed that Greene's actions indicated that she "clearly wants to run for president."
In the past, Greene called the idea "baseless."
How might this feud affect GOP unity ahead of the next election cycle?
Republicans are formerly facing internal fermentation and factional controversies in crucial countries, as pressures between Trump patriots and establishment or moderate coalitions grow. The public breakdown between Trump and Greene, formerly close abettors , signals weakening cohesion among the MAGA- aligned bloc.
Similar high- profile feuds add to being prejudiced conflicts in state Democratic parties, which have endured leadership challenges, ideological rifts, and fiscal struggles in battlefield countries like Michigan, Florida, Arizona, and Georgia. This Intra-party disharmony could hamper coordinated crusade sweats and namer rallying.
Still, GOP leaders maintain that party concinnity in choices eventually depends on rallying behind the designee anyhow of once grievances. Still, ongoing particular and ideological clashes threaten sidelining crucial namer parts and diverting coffers.
