Palestine (Washington Insider) - 15 Palestinians were injured as Israeli forces shelled Gaza, including Al-Samer, Khan Younis, and Jabalia; repeated ceasefire violations since October 10 sparked fear and drew humanitarian warnings.

As Hosni Nedim and Betul Yilmaz on AA News reported, 15 Palestinians were injured on Wednesday, Dec 17, 2025, when Israeli forces shelled multiple areas in the Gaza Strip. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire that has been in effect since October 10, 2025.

Local medical sources said many of the wounded were hit when an artillery shell landed near a group of civilians in the Al-Samer neighbourhood of Gaza City. This area was part of the first phase of the ceasefire, from which Israeli troops had withdrawn. Witnesses also reported shelling in southeastern Khan Younis and near the Morag corridor, north of Rafah.

How are Gaza civilians affected by Israeli shelling despite the ceasefire?

An Israeli security source said the shelling was accidental. They claimed that the artillery shells went off course and struck Gaza City by mistake. Humanitarian groups warned that such incidents could quickly lead to new violence. Local authorities and hospitals called on the international community to ensure the ceasefire is respected.

Military vehicles and bulldozers moved into the northeastern outskirts of Deir al-Balah city. Witnesses said the troops conducted bulldozing while heavy gunfire erupted in the area. At the same time, Israeli artillery shelled the eastern parts of the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza City. Palestinians accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire that has been in place since October 10, 2025.

Since the ceasefire began in the war between Israel and Hamas, more than 1,074 now-injured Palestinians have been treated at local medical facilities. The majority of these cases originated from the air strikes that took place before the ceasefire and which have caused great damage to many areas of Gaza.

Medical officials have stated that as of October 1, 2023, nearly 70,700 people have been killed and more than 171,000 injured in the conflict. In addition to deaths and injuries, hundreds of thousands of homes and buildings have been destroyed by the Israeli bombardment.
