UAE confirms main rain wave over highest rain 127mm in RAK
UAE (Washington Insider) – The UAE saw heavy rainfall
this week, with Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Ghazlah recording 127mm. NCM warns of cool
temperatures, showers, strong winds, dust, and rough seas over the weekend.
As Meher Dhanjal reported on Khaleejtimes, the United ArabEmirates experienced heavy rainfall this week, and the National Center of
Meteorology (NCM) said on Friday, Dec 19, 2025, that the main wave has passed.
Cooler temperatures and occasional showers are expected over the weekend.
Rain fell across most areas of the country on Thursday
night, Dec 18, 2025, and Friday, Dec 19, 2025. The authorities urged people to
stay alert as the weather continues to change. They also warned that wet roads
and water accumulation could pose risks in some areas.
What are the rainfall levels in RAK and the weekend weather
in UAE?
Ras Al Khaimah recorded the highest rainfall, with Al
Ghazlah receiving 127 millimetres. Other locations also saw large amounts of
rain. Saqr Port station recorded 123mm, Jabal Al Rahbah had 117.5mm, and Jebel
Jais received 116.6mm. Ras Al Khaimah city recorded 72mm. These levels are
unusually high for the region.
Officials said they will continue to monitor conditions
closely. Residents are advised to be careful when travelling and to follow
safety instructions as showers and cooler weather continue in the coming days.
Clouds are slowly clearing across the United Arab Emirates,
but the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said the weather will remain
partly cloudy to cloudy at times this weekend. Convective clouds are expected
to develop, bringing a chance of rain in some areas on Saturday, Dec 20, 2025,
and Sunday, Dec 21, 2025.
Temperatures have fallen noticeably across the country. The
NCM said daytime weather will be cool, while nights will be cold. Inland and mountainous
areas are likely to feel the lowest temperatures.
Predictions for wind speed indicate continued active to at
times strong winds from this afternoon, associated closely with developing
convection clouds; therefore, travelling through exposed locations where
dust/sand may be raised due to the winds could result in reduced horizontal
visibility.
Additionally, as per NCM forecasts, rough seas remain at
Arabian Gulf (AG) coastal regions along Sea of Oman (SO). The public is advised
to exercise caution when travelling this weekend along both inland and coastal
locations as cooler than normal temperatures combined with strong wind gusts,
and possible rain showers, persist throughout the next few days.
