Israel targets Hamas leader in Gaza, killing 4 amid truce
Israel (Washington Insider) – On December 13, 2025,
Israel’s IDF and Shin Bet struck Gaza City, likely targeting Ra’ad Sa’ad; 4
people killed, several injured, amid ongoing tensions despite the 2023
ceasefire.
As Dimsum Daily reported, on December 13, 2025, the Israel
Defence Forces carried out a strike in Gaza City aimed at a senior Hamas
commander. The operation was conducted together with Israel’s intelligence
agency, Shin Bet. Reports say the likely target was Ra’ad Sa’ad, a founding
member of the Al-Qassam Brigades and head of Hamas’s weapons production.
The rockets, missiles, and anti-tank weapons made by Sa’ad
are what the strike occurred against. Approximately 4 individuals were
reportedly killed by the strike, and many more were injured, by Palestinian
health officials. Sources from Hamas stated that the car was believed to be
carrying a senior operative. Ra’ad Sa’ad is still currently unverified in his
condition after the strike.
Who was targeted in Israel’s Gaza strike that killed 4 amid
the ceasefire?
Officials mentioned that previous attempts to target Sa’ad
reportedly failed.
Israeli officials said operations like this aim to weaken Hamas’s command and
production networks. Analysts say the operation could have major effects on
Hamas leadership and its future actions in Gaza.
Although a fragile ceasefire has been established between
Israel and Palestine since October 2023, violence continues as Israeli Armed
Forces conduct operations within the Gaza Strip. According to Palestinian
medical officials, over 380 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,000
have suffered injuries as a result of Israeli air strikes since the beginning
of the ceasefire. According to analysts, these operations by the Israeli Armed
Forces are designed to eliminate Hamas leadership and disrupt Hamas’s weapons
supply lines to promote safety within the region.
