Letitia Ann “Tish” James was born in Brooklyn, New
York City, on October 18, 1958. Raised in Brooklyn, her upbringing

James attended City University of New York‘s Lehman College, where she received
her bachelor’s degree. After undergraduate work, she went on to earn a Juris
Doctor degree from Howard University School of Law in a Washington D.C.
